Singapore Night Festival 2023 — Part 2

Shall we continue our adventure at the Singapore Night Festival? 🙂

I had actually planned the order in which I would like to visit the exhibits but decided to just walk ahead and see where my feet would lead me.

Next up is the Peranakan Museum. Usually at this time, it would be closed and dark. But this night, it came alive. Very much alive (and intimidating), actually.

Two figures stand in front of the museum: an elderly man holding the hand of an eager young girl. This sculpture demonstrates that the arts can be relevant to generations of Singaporeans, both young and old, uniting our past, present, and future.

I continued my walk to the National Museum of Singapore. Right outside the museum was this installation called “A Stone’s Throw Away.” This is inspired by the legend of the Singapore Stone, which was flung from Fort Canning Hill to the mouth of the Singapore River by the 14th-century strongman, Badang.

The installation reimagines this story through a series of interconnected light panels with illustrations.

Following that, we were treated to a breathtaking 6-minute light projection on the museum’s facade.

This particular narrative transported us back to the 14th century, where a female protagonist embarked on her own “Back to the Future” journey, eventually arriving in present-day Singapore.

I wished I could share the mesmerizing light projections with a video clip, but I only managed to capture a few snapshots as I was too engrossed in the light show.

Since it was getting late, I decided not to wait for a re-run of the show.

As there are already too many photos in this story which may slow down the loading of the page, I will share the remaining photos in a final part of this night festival soon.

Hope you enjoy this journey thus far.
