Simplifying Your Route Towards an Electric Car
A dive into an electric car’s technology, features, and affordability
Electric Cars or Electric Vehicles (EVs) are the new hype in town, giving us some major alternatives to gasoline-powered engines. With a silent yet impactful revolution taking on our roads, we are driven by its technology, features, and looks.
But some of you are still struggling to find out the basics of an EV. So, let’s read on to break the jargon of an Electric Vehicle for you.
What is an Electric Car?
If you are a car fanatic like me, you must have a dozen of remote control cars at home. An electric vehicle works in the same way.
It runs on electricity using it from a battery instead of gasoline or diesel. The batter is charged from an electric source or a rechargeable station. In this way, electricity is stored in the battery to power the electric motor, ultimately making the car move.
An electric car has the same components, including seats, wheels, and windows, but a smaller cargo area as a huge battery resides in there.
How Electric Car works?
An electric car has an electric motor that takes electricity from the battery and converts it into power to drive the vehicle. Unlike the Electric Fuel Ignition (EFI) system in traditional cars, EVs have a controller that manages a system of braking, accelerating, and flow of power throughout the vehicle.
Most electric cars have regenerative braking systems, in which brakes are made of Piezoelectric material that self-charges upon depressing the brake pedal. This generated power is sent back to the battery for storage,
The process of regenerative system makes the EV more energy efficient and enhances its range.
Pros of buying an EV
Electric Vehicles are gaining pace. Here are some reasons contributing to it;
· EVs are more energy efficient than internal combustion cars.
· EVs have zero exhaust emissions, reducing the overall carbon footprint.
· They have lesser moving components which lead to lower maintenance costs than traditional cars.
· EVs provide instant acceleration and a quiet environment, reducing noise pollution.
· Electric cars can be conveniently charged at home, eliminating the hassle of going to fuel stations.
· Due to their innovative power trains, there are numerous sleek and modern design options while selecting EV.
Cons of Buying an EV
Certainly, there are some potential disadvantages of buying an EV, too, and I want you to know them before going to the marketplace.
· Often, EVs have limited driving range due to which they require frequent charging stops, making it less recommended for longer trips.
· As Electric Vehicle charging technology is evolving, infrastructure might vary with regions, making them less efficient.
· EV typically takes longer charging time than refuelling of traditional cars.
· The difference between the upfront cost of an EV and a traditional car varies greatly, making it an expensive option.
