Simple Trick Will Make You Motivated

Harnessing the Power of Self-Discipline for Lasting Motivation

Hey everyone, welcome to my story. If you don’t know me, I’m Aysha Ayshu💖 writing honest incredible stories on medium. You can visit my profile to check all of my stories.🙃 Let’s get started.

This one simple trick will make you motivated.🗽

And the trick is you sitting across the table from your 80-year-old self, and you have to imagine the color of your hair, the bags under your eyes, the wrinkles on your forehead, and the way that your body looks. You have to imagine everything.

And then what you have to do is ask that person,

‘Am I living my life the right way?’

‘What am I doing right?’

‘What am I doing wrong?’

‘What area in my life am I really dropping the ball in?’

And the crazy thing about this exercise is that the person across the table already knows the answers to these questions, which means you already know what you should do and what you shouldn’t do.

But the problem is that most of you reading this story are relying on motivation to do these things.

You’re relying on motivation to stop watching X-rated content on the internet. You’re relying on motivation to go to the gym or to start that business. But motivation is just an emotion, meaning it will eventually go away like a cloud in the sky.

A cloud, similar to an emotion, can be thunderous; it can be loud; it can be scary, but eventually, it’s going to go away.

So, the thing that we have to rely on is something that is known as self-discipline. And the way that we become self-disciplined is not through taking cold showers or getting up early or having some kind of vision board.

It’s through understanding the fact that you are going to die one day. Because if you understand this, it will create urgency in your life. It will make you do the thing today, and it will also cure your procrastination.

One of the reasons why I’m so successful in my life,

I’m literally starting to write stories after coming home from a dance class — because every single day, I’m always aware of my mortality.

I’m aware that my hair gets grayer every single second. I’m aware that my skin gets wrinkly. I’m aware that my organs are slowly dying. And I know this sounds really depressing and morbid, but it’s really not.

This is what creates depth and color in my life because if we live forever, there would be no urgency to do anything. You would literally just lay in bed all day doing absolutely nothing because there’s no incentive to go out and get the thing that you want, as there’s always going to be a tomorrow.

But because there’s not always going to be a tomorrow, that’s the thing that inspires action today. So, after this story is over, sit down at your table or whatever, and imagine your 80-year-old self, asking that person that question.

And then, after you do that, understand that you are going to die one day. That will create all the motivation, all the self-discipline, and all the urgency that you need to really get after your dreams and your life.
