You probably won’t be surprised

I like new writing platforms. I especially love being one of the founding members. I have had good experiences with it in the past but this experience — not so good.

Simily has potential.

If you haven’t heard of it before, it’s a lot like Medium. In fact, I’d be surprised if the site wasn’t created by Medium members. Don’t quote me on that. It’s just my opinion.

Anyway, Simily is like Medium, but specifically for fiction and, to a lesser degree, poetry.

Free members can read 5 stories a month. For $6.99 ($1.99 for the first month) you can read unlimited stories, connect with readers and writers, and follow writers. You can get roughly two months free if you buy a yearly membership.

Currently, they are paying writers two cents a word. This will change once the site becomes more established.

The good thing is, it’s just for fiction. Or it’s supposed to be. I’ve heard of lots of writers publishing non-fiction there as well. Which makes it become more like Medium.

Simily has had a lot of growing pains in the past few months. It’s not uncommon to find the site inaccessible for various reasons.

But, I decided to give it a go. I figured with five stories, I should at least get an idea of whether or not it is worth continuing.

Over the past month or so, I published my five stories.

Since then…I’ve made exactly 14 cents.

Not stupendous results, is it?

I honestly don’t think I can be bothered to continue with it.

Have you submitted stories to Simily? What were your results?

If you like what I write here on Medium and you’re reading without a membership, you might notice that you can only read three stories per month. If you create an account, you can read five stories per month for free. But if you become a member (only $5/month or $50/year) you can read as many stories and article as you want, with no ads. You can become a paying member here (and if you use my link, I’ll retain a portion of your membership fee each month). You can also learn to write and earn money on Medium!

You can also show your support for my work by buying me a cup of coffee.
