‘Genius in a Bottle’ Prompted Writing Challenge
Silver Screen Seductress
GiaB writing prompt #13

Sashaying on film. A fantasy, yet so real. She lives in my thoughts.
Cinema is one of the technological advancements that has changed what life is to us. We can hardly conceive of modern life without staring into the enormous beyond, losing ourselves to the alternate realities presented for us. It’s the original virtual reality.
For many decades, our heroes were restricted to men, and so were the stories which centred around swashbuckling, deep-voiced, chokingly masculine heroes. We became accustomed to stories that only fit that narrative.
Until, like a burst of sunshine tearing through dark storm clouds, we started to see magical ladies share centre stage, and eventually with time, take it over completely. Suddenly, we could enjoy a whole new dimension of stories that revolve around the female perspective. And the virtual reality, now imbued with the yin, AND the yang, more closely matched what we knew as life.
We have evolved and now various roles have become trademarked to amazing heroines who are forever imprinted in our hearts and minds. And we love them all for it.
