Show Yourself Compassion
Build your capacity to show others compassion
Show Yourself Self-Compassion
In a time of crisis, we all need to show compassion.
Compassion is the desire to relieve suffering — usually of others.
However, it is also likely we are feeling the effects of the current challenges.
We discount our own need for compassion while being compassionate toward others.
This is a mistake.
We must show ourselves self-compassion
Lesson to Learn
We need to show ourselves compassion as well to others.
Showing compassion has been demonstrated to lower our stress and give us some measure of control over our situation.
Self-compassion can be just as useful for us.
We can be gentle on ourselves.
It’s important to forgive ourselves for our shortcomings.
Being kind to all — even ourselves — can make life so much more enjoyable.
Answer for Me
I need to remind myself to give myself the same amount of compassion I want to show others.
Can I let my failures go?
Can I be grateful for the small things?
When I am self-compassionate, I can be more available for others.
Compassion and self-compassion close the circle and ensure I can give my best self.
Action
Show yourself compassion.
Hold yourself to the same amount of kindness you want to show others.
Let failures go. Let disappointments fade away.
Give yourself the warmth you give to those you care most about.
Daily Habits
Start each day by being grateful for yourself and the life you have.
Let go of hurts from the past.
Count your blessings after each day.
Pat yourself on the back for your achievements of the day.
Commit to being self-compassionate each day.
