Polygamy Should Be Legal

Is Polygamy Beneficial for Men or Women?

Image via biblepolygamy.com

Contrary to the popular believe Polygamy is more beneficial to women than men. It took me 3days to pen down this article, I have made it religiously unbiased, so sit back relax and enjoy.

Somehow we have this mixed up idea that polygamy is a gift to a man, Whereas it benefits women more than men.

In the United States alone there are 4.7 Million females more than males. If we follow the theory of One Man One Women, How will the 4.7 Millon female find a life partner?

If a woman happens to be from the 4.7 Millon, she can either choose a husband who already has a wife or she becomes public property. ( Public property is the most sophisticated word I can use ).

Now many of you may blame me for hardcore patriarchy for being a Muslim, I highly recommend you read my article Feminism Should Be Banned. In the last paragraph, I have discussed the misconception of women’s rights and freedom in Islam.

Islam Restricts Polygamy

When I first heard “Islam restricts polygamy”, I was surprised. As all the polygamists I knew, were Muslims, and none of them was a Christian or Jew.

In the Hindu scripture Ramayan, the father of Shri Ram had more than one wife and in Mahabharath Shri Krishan had 16,108 wives. In the old testament, it says Solemn ( may peace be upon him ) had 700 wives, Abraham ( peace be upon him ) had 3 wives.

According to Judaism, Christianity, and Hinduism, a man can marry as many women he likes. It was later in 1890 the church put a restriction that a Christian should marry only one, and Rabbenu Gershom who banned polygamy for jews in the 11th Century.

In Islam the Quran in Chapter no. 4 Verse no. 3 says,

“Marry women of your choice in twos threes or fours, but if you can’t do justice, marry only one”

In Chapter 4 Verse 129 Quran says,

“ It is difficult to be just between your wives, but don’t turn away from them all together”

Many people think a Muslim man must have four wives, whereas the Quran restricts men to four wives and says marry only one if you cant be just.

Can a Woman Have Multiple Husbands?

According to science, a man is more polygamist in nature than a woman. During the menstrual cycle, a woman goes under physiological changes which makes it difficult for her to play the role of multiple wives, whereas a man doesn’t undergo these changes and it is possible for him to play the role of multiple husbands.

According to science, if a man has multiple sexual partners and all are faithful there is no risk of contracting STD, but if a female has multiple sexual partners and all are faithful, there is a higher risk of contracting STD and transmitting to other male partners.

Women can have longterm psychological effects of having multiple sex partners as discussed by Dr. Susan Krauss in psychology today.

In conclusion, I believe, women benefit more from polygamy than a man. If you ask any sensible women who are more than 30 years old, they will opt to be a second wife rather than being a public property or a mistress.

Although everyone is entitled to there own opinion, let me know what you think. I will be looking forward to your responses.
