Should I Write Under a Pen Name?

Would I be more liberated as a writer?

Until now it has never occurred to me that I may want to write under a pen name.

Before I never even began to entertain the idea because I wanted my name out there in the literary world.

Sometimes I feel using my own name limits me as a writer.

I write cautiously to air on the side of safety.

I don't want to accidentally anger or hurt someone with my words.

I never want anything I write to result in an argument.

Writing is my happy place and I don't want that tarnished.

As a result, my work stays safe.

There are topics I would like to write about but I don't because I fear it will be received wrong.

My work is rather vanilla at times.

I desire to really grow as a writer.

To do this I need to write from a liberated, free place.

I am not sure I can do that under my real name.

I need to go incognito!

I need the freedom to be who I am.

I need to get my uncensored words out into the world.

Mostly, I am pretty candid with most of my articles.

With that said, I hold back.

As a result, my work lacks that certain something.

I am curious about those of you writers who do use pen names.

Is it for the mentioned reasons?

Or

Are the other factors that led you to opt for a pen name?
