The Documentary that Damned the Idol’s Legacy

‘Leaving Neverland is a disturbing documentary film about Michael Jackson’s relationship with two young boys. Once the film aired, most of Jackson’s fans were horrified.

They could not believe their idol was capable of committing the abuses that the boys, now adults, alleged. People were alarmed as credible cases from the 1980s and 1990s were unearthed.

The viewers, however, could not figure it out and were saddened by how red flags were not raised at the time. How could such atrocities have been carried out? That too right under the public’s nose.

Director Dan Reed described the documentary as a commentary on the psychology of sexually abused children. It is a story told through two families duped and groomed by a pedophile hiding behind the mask of a ‘friend.’

The victims of this case are Wade Robson (who claimed Jackson had been abusing him since 1990) and who James Safechuck (claimed he was being abused since 1988).

They gave very vivid graphic descriptions of the sexual acts Michael Jackson would make them participate in. All this took place at ‘Neverland ranch,’ one of Jackson’s properties. This, in itself, seems like a sick joke since Neverland is the fairytale famous fictional place where peter pan and his crew of children live and make merry.

Sadly, Robson and Safechuck were groomed by Jackson into thinking these acts were ‘romantic.’ It was not until adulthood that they figured out how inappropriate and traumatizing the whole affair was.

James Safechuck even claims that Jackson told him to never trust women. He was also taken to shop for an engagement ring and Michael Jackson even staged their faux wedding.

This was so traumatic for the child that he had to go to a therapist in 2013. Both boys also claimed that they were kept away from their families and brainwashed. Further evidenced by how Jackson set up tight security systems at Neverland ranch. Consequently, shutting everyone out.

This documentary truly serves as damning evidence against the idol and his legacy. However, it merely scratches the surface of the deep, dark void within.

Credible Evidence

In 1993, 13-year-old Jordan Chandler accused Michael Jackson of sexually molesting him. However, the case was dismissed due to insubstantial evidence.

Then, in 2005, Michael Jackson was tried in court after concerns were raised over his documentary ‘living with Michael Jackson.’ It showed Jackson holding hands and even sharing a bed with 12-year-old Gavin Arvizo.

Sadly, Michael Jackson was acquitted of all charges owing to his strong team of lawyers and the huge amounts he settled the cases with. Does it not seem strange that he would deny all charges of abuse made against him but still be willing to give millions of dollars to the victims, in order to settle the case and not go to trial? Millions of dollars spent to maintain silence perhaps?

So from 1993 up to his death in 2009, Michael Jackson was involved in various similar scandals. But he always managed to walk free. This makes me hate him a little since his influence and money let him settle the cases instead of going to trial. He never got punished.

All his victims were children who would have been traumatized. And yet, no retribution was made. Take, for example, the Jordan chandler case. Here, Michael Jackson made a settlement of $23 million, and the next thing we know?

The charges against him vanish.

This makes him a repeat offender who had no remorse for his actions since the allegations against him continued. The reports of molestation and sexual abuse did not stop but further investigation into these cases did.
