Shining In The Shadows

September Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Shadows”

Shining bright, even in the shadows.

Until about 10:30 each morning, my house casts a shadow into the backyard. The upstairs dormer and chimney stretch the longest.

Today, a hummingbird was shining bright in the shadow. I was reminded that our shadow will overshadow the other creatures we share our planet with if we are not careful.

The shadow of our built world serves as a physical symbol of our collective carbon footprint. As humans, if we want to ensure that we continue to enjoy the brightness the plant and animal world shines on us, we have choices to make.
