Shia Leboeuf: Where are You?

I grew up on innocent version of Disney Channel, the one that had the good shows about real stuff. Even Stevens was one of my favorite shows. Shia played that dweeby little brother. He always got the short end of the stick. He was mischievous and stayed getting into trouble. He was relatable.

This morning I had a random thought about Shia. I was wonder what he doing now. I haven’t watched a movie with him in it in a hot minute.

I thought about how he went from scrawny to hot somewhere between the movie “Holes” and the movie “Eagle Eye” and they were only 3 years apart. The glow up was real!

He did play some disturbing roles like him in “Disturbia” and “Nymphomaniac” but he prevailed in the movie scene.

I then went down a rabbit hole. I had heard rumors over the years about him but didn’t really pay any attention to them. You’re not famous until the tabloids spread a lie about you right? But I found so much more.

Apparently Shia heard his mother being raped in the next room when he was a kid. That messed him up. That would mess a lot of people up. I don’t know what his exact age was when it happened but he developed PTSD shortly after that.

His dad was a recovering addict. He went to live with him while he played in Even Stevens. I bet during that time, he went through a lot of stress. But you would never know, that boy never missed a beat. He was always on point on the show. I feel like in today’s TV you can tell when actors are going through something.

Shia did deal with addiction himself. He wasn’t able to get sober on his own from alcohol and he checked into rehab. I saw an article and was happy to find that he was celebrating being sober for 2 and a half years. Quite a milestone!

I guess it doesn’t really matter what Shia is doing right now. I can imagine that he might be doing much better than he was before. If he jumps back into acting soon, I’m sure he will kill it just like he did in his precious roles. “IRobot” and “Transformers” were iconic for him. His talent really shined.

Shia is alright in my book.
