Shein: my first & last order š
Is āfast fashionā worth it? š¤

As many of you know, Iāve been planning my Halloween š costume since last year: I plan on dressing as Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Iāve been trying to find a second-hand, affordable dress that can pass as Sally to put my own style to it, but every dress Iāve found has either been too expensive or the wrong size.
Lo and behold, an advertisement featuring a āpatchworkā style dress pops up as I scroll:

The website gave me some serious Forever 21 vibes, so I figured why not?
My first thought wasā¦
āHow cute! I could make this work with my jean jacket, some cute tights and my Doc Martins!ā
And for only $18.00? SOLD!
All the reviews of said dress were good:
āSuch a cute dress! Canāt wait for date night!ā
āSuper comfy, fits like a glove!ā
āFive stars!āāāāāā
āThis is so much cuter in person!ā
I have one word for those reviews: LIARS!!!
It got here on Saturday, July 30th. The estimated delivery date given after I ordered was between August 3rd and August 5th. Good on delivery, for sure.
I opened it and immediately noticed the thinness of the material. Again, Iām planning to use it for a Halloween costume: Iām not expecting much.
Unfortunately, itās so thin itās practically see-through!

I havenāt worn a slip in years and for this dress I might have to. Iām afraid to wash it: itās so cheaply made, I fear it wonāt make it through a wash cycle unscathed!
It looks cute. At least, I think itās passable:

It feels extremely cheap, which isnāt surprising since the total cost with shipping was $20 and some change. Itās ironic that I was planning to use this for Halloween as it looks and feels like one of those discount costumes in a plastic bag on the discount rack of Walmart on Nov. 1st.
The day it arrived, I was watching YouTube and came across this Charlotte Dobre video about āfailsā from Shein. Itās not just the low-quality of the clothing that is concerning: fast fashion is really, really bad for our environment. šš
