She Tasted of Oranges

Poetry: Orange Autumn

Photo by Nastacia Kvariani from Pexels

A juicy tasty orange

She cut it in half and took it to her nose

She inhaled and smiled

I looked at her and then around

We were in our garden autumn coming to life

Leaves fell, the wind blew, a shiver took over me

Could it all really be this perfect?

She called out my name, ‘What are you thinking about, silly girl?”

Yes, I can be silly sometimes

“Just thinking of us, hon, just us,” I replied

She laughed at me, my seriousness always makes her giggle, and took a bite of the orange

Juice traveled down her chin and I decided it was time I went over there and kissed her

After all I already knew she would taste of oranges.
