She Deserves Far More
Great Strength Lies Within a Woman
Defeated, I paced back and forth.
“What’s gotten into you?” my friend asked.
“As a woman fed with beauty ideals Is it wrong to be upset at the traps? Is it wrong when movies and Television ads see women as nothing more than objects to believe that’s where my value’s at?”
He paused for a moment and then said,
“A woman’s beauty isn’t seen, it’s discovered.”
My friend shares how there is depth to a woman’s beauty. If we take to the time to listen to what a woman deserves we can live in a better world.
She deserves to be treated with respect wherever she goes, on the streets, at her work, and in her home. She deserves to be listened to by her colleagues, friends and family in matters of great significance.
She deserves to be paid equally to that of a man. She deserves to have a chance at leadership positions and speaking opportunities. She deserves to have a chance at pursuing education to attend the job of her dreams.
She deserves to be protected from violence, harassment, from forced child marriage. She deserves to have her voice heard in a group of males who may feel compelled to make decisions for her.
She deserves justice from those who have mistreated her, abused her, and left her stranded. She deserves the right to feel safe in society.
She deserves to feel confident in her skin. She deserves to know that “strong” isn’t just a word for men, but women can be both strong and beautiful.
She deserves to be who she is and express herself without being judged by others for being unique. She deserves to be appreciated and recognized for all that she is worth. She deserves to freely become who she is meant to be.
We deserve a world where women are encouraged, supported and allowed to reach their full potential. We deserve gender equality #BreakTheBias
