Sharks, rayfish, anemones and corals in warm Mexican waters

All this happened in Cozumel, Mexico
I spent hours snorkeling, plus 2-3 hs SCUBA diving. My diving guide was great at spotting wildlife. Thanks to him I can now share with you many fascinating creatures. It isn’t easy to take good photos underwater, but I share with you some decent shots. I hope you like them! And stay tuned for part 2 featuring turtles and more marine fauna.
In the opening you see a small coral reef, and a giant lobster hiding in it. Here you have an anemone, that was actually not bigger than a human hand but I approached my GoPro enough to capture it like this. It looks somehow funny to me… like eyes popping out from the rock?
When there was nothing “special” to see, the view was still lovely. The corals, plants, fish, and even the rocks build up very interesting shapes and landscapes:
Comfy SCUBA diving in search for animals
SCUBA diving is indeed very pleasant here, as the water is warm and there’s no need to go down to see rich wildlife.
The Mexican sea is quite rich in rayfish. Some of them huge!
This one was easily 3 m long and 1.5–2 m wide:
Did you notice the small shark on the right?
Well this next shark, which I photographed while it was having a nap under a huge rock, was around 2 m long. It looks small because I didn’t dare get any closer!
