Her “Friends” Set Her Up! 10 Lessons to Learn From the Tragic Shanquella Robinson Story- Travel Life

Shanquella Brenada Robinson January 9, 1997 — October 29, 2022

This article covers the Shanquella Robinson case and the incident in which Shanquella Robinson and six others (Wenter Essence Donovan, Malik Dwyer, Alysse Hyatt, Daejhanae Jackson, Khalil Cooke and Nazeer Wiggins) traveled to San Jose del Cabo, Mexico on October 28, 2022.

The frenemies: Wenter Donovan, Malik Dwyer, Alysse Hyatt, Daejhanae Jackson, Nazeer Wiggins, and best frenemy Khalil Cooke. The group traveled to San Jose del Cabo, Mexico on October 28, 2022 to celebrate two of the frenemies’ birthdays.

Shanquella Robinson would be dead the very next day. Mexican officials believing the story of ‘friends’ said the cause of death was alcohol poisoning.

That is until a video went viral showing Daejhanae Jackson viciously hitting and kicking a naked Robinson as several “friends” recorded.

One frenemy asked, “Can’t you at least fight back Quella.” The way Daejhanae Jackson manhandled a defenseless Robinson invoked reactions across the internet making some internet users refer to her as Man-jhanae — or even making accusations that she is a man because of the strength she displayed.

The viral Shanquella Robinson video fight sent shock waves through Black social media and clarion calls for #justiceforshanquella #shanquellarobinson #Quella.

The outcry for justice was so intense that Shanquella Robinson’s story could not be ignored by mainstream media.

The autopsy report revealed that Robinson’s cause of death was “severe spinal cord injury and atlas luxation,” in layman’s terms, a cracked spine and dislocated neck, not alcohol poisoning as the “friends” had told Salamandra Robinson when they returned from Mexico stopping by Ms. Robinson’s house to eat her warm food and tell cold-blooded lies.

It was a premeditated gang-up by wolves in sheep’s clothing to annihilate an innocent soul.

The social media outcry and the autopsy report led to the FBI in Charlotte, North Carolina opening an investigation and an arrest warrant to be issued by the Mexican authorities.

According to news reports, Daniel de la Rosa Anaya, a prosecutor for the state of Baja California Sur in a press release stated that a friend of Robinson “who is the direct aggressor” is being sought by international authorities on charges of femicide.

WHO WAS QUELLA

Shanquella Brenada Robinson known as “Quella” was a 25-year beloved woman loved by father Bernard, mother Sallamondra Robinson, sister Quilla Long, friends, family members and complete strangers.

She was an entrepreneur, kids hair braider, owner of an online kids boutique, and a college student majoring in business, who loved traveling.

The love for Quella has spread financially as nearly $400, 000 has been raised. The donations came from everyone, including ordinary people, celebrities, and YouTube influencers.

QUELLA’S STORY

Shanquella Robinson vacationed in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in a beautiful villa that Robinson paid for with her money to celebrate two of the “friends” birthdays. The six “friends” have been dubbed “Cabo Six.” Six, remember that number.

Cabo San Lucas Mexico is described as one of Mexico’s top five tourist destinations. Many doubt that it will remain that way until there is Justice for Shanquella.

WHAT HAPPENED TO QUELLA

With little information coming from officials internet sleuths have put together bits and pieces of information to determine what happened on that warm October night.

On Friday, October 29, Shanquella and friends were served dinner by a chef at the Villa. Afterward, they played games. From a video that surfaced, they played some type of drinking, truth or dare game.

It is believed that Jackson and the other Cabo six hatched a plan to harm Shanquella while they were in the United States because of jealousy and to get access to her money.

A transgression that was not to take place so early in the trip. However, it is believed that Shanquella unknowingly said something that offended Daejhanae Jackson, and this sparked the vicious attack so early in the trip contrary to the initial plan.

Recall that I told you to remember the number six? Six thousand is reportedly what the Villa cost for the weekend. Six thousand dollars was what Shanquella’s daddy paid to have her body shipped back two weeks later.

In every tragedy, there is a LESSON and I’m going to share 10 lessons we can learn from the tragic death.

1. KNOW THE LAWS IN PLACES YOU TRAVEL

The Cabo six obviously didn’t know or care about Mexico’s laws which are believed to be harsh and the prison system even more dangerous than America’s.

Brittney Griner being sentenced to nine years in Russia for bringing vape cartridges that contained a small amount of cannabis oil and Otto Warmbier being sentenced to 15 years hard labor for attempting to steal a poster from his hotel in North Korea are harsh reminders that when you travel to a different county, you are subject to that country’s laws.

Even if you unknowingly break what would be considered in the U.S. as a minor infraction, the law in the country you travelled to may consider it a capital offense.

As a van dweller taking long road trips in the U.S., these cases have made me hyper-aware of the importance of knowing laws in different states.

2. KNOW THE RULES

Rules of engagement. Rules of engagement in this sense is to know unwritten rules of concern that will jeopardize your safety or reasons you may not get justice if something happens. It is alleged in Shanquella’s Robinson case that officials accepted bribes (doctors and police officers.)

3. KNOW THE CULTURE

Are women required to be fully covered for religious purposes? Should men not use certain language that may be accepted somewhere else?

4. KNOW SELF-DEFENSE

Shanquella Robinson’s Dad, Bernard said he did not raise her to fight or be a troublemaker. Decent parents like Bernard don’t want their kids to start fights, but if attacked, we want them to defend themselves.

Although I respect Mr. Robinson’s perspective — I would advise everyone these days to learn self-defense moves. Whether that’s getting some type of official training or looking at YouTube videos. You can’t go wrong with knowing some self-defense rules.

5. INVESTIGATE YOUR FRIENDS

Everyone these days meets new people via the internet. However, if you meet someone, it is imperative to know some things about them. Whether this is doing a few internet searches and checking out their social media or hiring an investigator, it’s important to know travel companions.

6. READ ENERGY

As an enerologist, one who studies energy. I study people’s vibes. There is a video that Shanquella filmed where she walks into a room in a playful mood asking her friends how long it takes for them to get in bathing suits — it’s clear she’s ready to hit the pool.

The other people are huddled together and acting as if she’s busted them speaking behind her back, giving her shady looks.

That was one clue that the Cabo 6 were plotting behind her back. Dirty scheming friends will leave a trail of clues that they should not be in your presence.

7. DO THE RIGHT THING

Now that bless her heart and rest her heart is dead and gone, someone needs to come forward and snitch. From the Black community to law enforcement and officials in general, no one likes to speak up and do what’s right.

We want to protect the people we care about, work with, and socialize with. There are cases where you cannot and should not do so. If you are of a good conscience, or your freedom is on the line, provide details to get someone justice.

8. GOOD CHARACTER

The dash between your birth and death tells the story of how you lived your life. When Shaquella passed away — we learned of her character and how she lived her life.

While I want those involved with her death to be punished with a hefty sentence, I don’t wish them death because I know when they depart this earth, that dash is going to tell the story of how they lived their life. They will leave behind a trail of shame.

9. BE A LEADER

Shanquella Robinson’s death was preventable if one of the friends, when they were plotting in the US, had stated that this is not a good idea or even if they didn’t stand up in the US, they had multiple opportunities to prevent this tragic story with NO winners.

A few of the Cabo 6 are going to prison for a very long time and even the one or two who may escape a physical jail will never be free. The stain of Shanquella’s death will forever follow them.

10. GROW UP

There is a saying that sticks and stones will break your bones but words will never hurt you. While I disagree, words do hurt, but words that hurt your feelings during a drinking truth or dare game aren’t worth you acting immature or becoming a vicious killer.

As Shanquella and the Cabo 6 knew each other from college, it’s possible as speculated that they were jealous of her. She probably carried herself in a mature way and spoke with maturity, something they didn’t do.

Had they learned from Quella instead of hating her, none of this would have happened.

The Shanquella Robinson story which should be a BET Lifetime movie is a tale that many will never forget nor will they rest until her family gets closure with arrest, detainment and conviction. #Justice.

The community and world are waiting on justice for Shanquella Brenada Robinson. Justice will bring family and friends one step closer to closure.
