2023 Updates:

We are no longer reviewing submissions via email and have moved to an invite-only method of selecting writers.

For current writers:

1. Make sure your title is properly capitalized. 2. Make sure you have a subtitle. 3. Your featured image should come directly below your subtitle and should be appropriate and clearly sourced. 4. We ask that, unless absolutely necessary, you do not fill your articles with additional pictures. We want your work to stand on the text alone, without add-ons.

For prospective writers:

1. Please adhere to the above guidelines and the guidelines we lay out on our submissions page. 2. We no longer accept pieces that have been previously published. 3. If you submit, get impatient, and publish a piece anyways, your piece will be rejected, and we will not be too eager to read future work. 4. Please introduce yourself when you submit for the first time. We cannot tell you how often we receive letters that say, “Hey, Sexology (Not our name), here is my piece. (Link)”. If you’re looking to write for us, we’d like to know a bit about you. 5. Submissions can take up to two weeks. Please, do not send us emails, comment on our submissions page, send homing pigeons after us, etc, until that time has passed.

Sex is a many-faced monster capable of inflicting both the greatest pleasure and pain on a person. Repression and discomfort have stifled conversations about sex for too long.

Despite being the main character in the narrative of human existence, sex is not explored and discussed enough.

This can lead to dysfunctional expectations, self-loathing and depression.

Sexography is about having an open forum for people to educate, discuss ideas, recount impactful memories and explore how people all over the world experience Sex.

We should not be afraid to celebrate it in all its forms and for all sexual orientations.

What we are looking for:

Personal Essays about sexual experiences — the good the bad and the ugly.
Humorous anecdotes about sexual missteps.
Advice and sex education articles.

*We are especially interested in topics with a cultural twist exploring how sex is treated differently around the world.

What we don’t want:

Erotica — Erotica can be great, but in our publication, we only want to turn on your mind (mostly)
Anything that marginalizes others or condones sexual abuse in any way.

Please mind that we don’t accept submissions without a featured image. Make sure to attach a clear royalty-free picture to your article that would reflect its theme best.
Make sure to choose an appropriate picture for your sex-related article that doesn’t cross the line between erotic and pornography (fully naked bodies, sex scenes, real images of sex positions, etc.)

Formatting

Make sure that your story is well-formatted, structured and edited before submitting. You can use medium’s editing features such as drop caps, headers, and subheaders or quotes to make your article more interesting and concise.
Please limit your self-promotion in submissions. Links to social media, email lists, and other stories are grand, but use your judgment & do not include ads for other publications and large calls to action.

Title

Write a descriptive title and subtitle that describes the main idea of your article. Please avoid using all-caps when unnecessary, as well as unjustified clickbait.

For example: ‘How to Know If You’re Bad At Sex’ instead of ‘BAD SEX’.

Editing

We recommend running your draft through the editing software (Grammarly or Hemingway App)to avoid any typos, repetition or grammar mistakes.
