Several New Cores Released for the Analogue Pocket

FPGA core developer Spiritualized1997 released several new cores today for the Analogue Pocket. These new cores are based on the originals that were released for prior Analogue consoles like the Mega SG, Super NT, and NT Mini.
The big releases from today’s new cores include a Sega Genesis core based on the previously released core for the Analogue Mega SG jailbreak. Previously, we had seen another developer, Eric Lewis, port a version of the MiSTer core over to the Analogue Pocket. Users now have the option to use either the MiSTer core or the new Spiritualized1997 core.
Another notable release is a core for Super Game Boy. This core will allow you to run Super Game Boy-enhanced games with their original borders and custom colour schemes.

The Super Game Boy was a cartridge peripheral released for the Super Nintendo and Super Famicom that allowed users to play their Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges on the device. Certain games were Super Game Boy-Enhanced, which offered custom borders and colour options.
Atari 2600 and Atari 7800 round out the list of notable cores making their way to the Pocket.
Other cores released are for lesser-known consoles but there are some must-have classics to be had as well. These include VideoBrain, Supervision, Studio 2, Odyssey 2, Intellivision, Mega Duck, Game King, Gamate, Creativision, Coleco, Channel F, Arcadia, and Adventure Vision.
I have never even heard of some of those, but that is part of the joy of FPGA gaming. I get to experience them for the first time with accuracy to the original hardware.
It’s believed that Spiritualized1997 is most likely an Analogue employee. The present theory is that Kevin Norton (Kevtris), head of FPGA development for Analogue, is the one who is the mastermind behind all Spiritualized1997’s and Smoke Monster’s prior core drops.

Cores from other developers have been dropping over the last several weeks as well. The PC Engine core from Adam Gastineau. We’re anticipating PC Engine CD support in the coming weeks.
Jotego continues to release beta cores for the pocket that are currently locked to his Patreon-only subscribers. Two recent releases include Vigilante and Outrun. We hope to see these cores available to everyone once they are out of beta.
