Back in 2022, I subscribed to Josh Johnson's YouTube channel.

He's one of my fave comedians.

The dude is legit funny.

Though he's what some would call an underrated comedian.

At least, that's going by the comments people often leave on YouTube.

When I subscribed, he doesn’t upload stand-ups on his channel.

But in 2023, that changed.

He started uploading comedy sets on YouTube.

In fact, at one point, he uploads weekly.

...Usually over 10-minute-long sets.

All. Fresh. Materials.

And they're F-ing hilarious.

Well, in no time, his YouTube channel grew. It currently has 170K subscribers.

Last night, I saw his post on YouTube:

"This year, I wrote and released 7 hours of stand up. All jokes, not crowd work. Thanks for watching. You're changing my life."

Catch that?

Over 7 hours of stand-up in a year.

I'm not Dave Chappelle, but I think that's a lot of hours.

For context, some comedy pros said it takes them a year to crank out two hours of solid stand-up.

And this dude did 7 hours in a year.

Also, since comedians edit out a lot of their material before releasing it…

I'd guess he's written more than 7 hours.

It just shows Josh puts a ton of effort into his craft.

And like he said, his life is deservedly changing.

Thing is…

It's a new year.

Everyone's setting goals and incorporating inspiring quotes and affirmations into their morning routine.

"Hit the gym, read more books, and find out what 'purr' means."

Then March rolls in… it's been six weeks since your last workout, and you're snacking at 1 AM.

Shame on you, Micheal.

Snacking at 1 AM?

What happened to "because you can do it doesn't mean you should"?

Thing is…

It's okay to make resolutions, but what makes all the difference is the work you put in.

You've gotta roll your sleeves and get your hands dirty.

Josh Johnson prolly did other stuff that led to all the shows and special he did last year…

But the writing bit is important.

After all, he's a comedian, and what's a comedian without solid materials?

He focused on the needle-moving part - his material.

So go ham on your needle-moving part.
