Summary

The undefined website outlines the #SethGodinDailyChallenge, an initiative to encourage daily writing with the aim of fostering discipline, improving presence, and potentially increasing visibility and earnings on Medium.com.

Abstract

The #SethGodinDailyChallenge is a self-imposed writing endeavor designed to inspire consistent daily writing without strict word limits, even allowing for motivational images as posts. This challenge is named after Seth Godin, whose prolific and high-quality writing has inspired the initiative's creator. The challenge aims to build writing discipline, leverage recent changes on Medium that favor regular posting, and prepare for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). Participants are encouraged to write daily, with a goal of reaching 200 words per post and maintaining consistent content development through the use of specific tags. The challenge is also seen as an opportunity for personal growth, content experimentation, and possibly even writing a book.

Only 77 days left in the year! Where did the time fly?

I’d love to close out the year with a bang, so here is a self-imposed challenge — the #SethGodinDailyChallenge. Feel free to join me — tag me if you do!

As the name suggests, the goal is to write something daily. No constraint on word counts, even an image with a motivational message counts! The idea is to inculcate writing discipline while keeping it fun and fresh.

If nothing, it will help us prepare for the NaNoWriMo next month, and also take advantage of the recent changes to Medium.com’s homepages. Apparently daily and regular writing is rewarded by being bubbled up higher to followers.

Why “#SethGodinDailyChallenge”?

You might be curious to the name, why “Seth Godin challenge”? Multiple reasons but here are my top 5:

  1. I love his writing. If I could write 10% as well as him, I would consider myself better than any bestseller! (Yes, his writing is truly brilliant!)
  2. The man is a writing machine — do you know he has been writing a blog post daily for the past decade?
  3. Each of his blog posts is a gem by itself, so the man combines quality and quantity! HIs blog has a “random” button that can take you to any random previous post, and by God! They are all brilliant — I’ve tried it more times than I care to admit!
  4. Writing consistency (daily preferred!) seems to help with the recent modifications to this site, so this would be a good way to test if my earnings increase. If not, nothing lost!
  5. Improvement in being more mindful. From folks who have participated in such challenges, the biggest feedback is that writing daily seems to increase our ability to be fully present in the “NOW” and also absorb more information. This also helps to spark better ideas for writing and discussions.

Writing Goals:

So the goal is to start writing daily continue for at least 30 days. And if I hit that target, I plan to stretch it 60, 100, and maximum 200 days.

What counts as a post? Anything really — but I am aiming for at least 200 words. But I will settle for posting with consistency.

I am also planning to stick to the same “tags” throughout the week, to make content development easier. Previously, this method helped me reach the “Top Writer” status for two topics, so that would be a good bonus if I can achieve them again.

I did debate using the concept of “Blog a Book” by Shaunta Grimes, but won’t pigeonhole myself into yet. Plus, I already have a book in the works so using this challenge more as a content testing experiment. But who knows — what will happen at the end of 200 days? Serendipity works in unexpected ways.
