Serenity By a Tree
Submission to The Lark’s poetry competition — runner-up poem

Subtle soft strokes Paint the sky, far and wide With hints of cloud Against a backdrop Of gentle blues
The moon rises, shrouded In a blanket of love Covered up cozily Holding guard from above
Drawing a smile of serenity Upon my face With mesmerizing grace Praising peaceful days
Here I find solace Amidst the falling acorns The gentle breeze Of shimmering, summer eve
The wind picks up pace, and plays A sea of sparkling leaves Like a fiddle, in the middle I stand And surrender To her loving embrace
Rays Of sunlight Penetrate The canopy Goodness gracious me What a place to be
A cobweb, sways Along the waves Of lu-mi-ne-scent beams Awaken reams Of dreams In the colors, of my heart
A symphony Of sensations Caresses, My soul Amongst These steady arbors, I am home, I am whole.
Love and Kindness are paramount.
