Summary

The website content details the author Luciano Abriata's experience capturing the beauty of dahlias in Morges, Switzerland, as part of a three-part series.

Abstract

The article showcases the vibrant dahlia displays along the shores of Morges, Switzerland, during September. Luciano Abriata, a nature enthusiast and photographer, has documented these floral arrangements in a series of photographs, which are divided into a three-part story published across friend publications. Morges, known for its picturesque location along Lake Geneva, transforms twice a year with spectacular floral displays - tulips in April and dahlias from August to October

You’ll see all shapes and colors of Dahlias in these 3 linked stories. Photo by author Luciano Abriata.

September? Dahlias! -Part 3

Photoshooting in the shores of the Swiss city of Morges, capital in April for tulips and in September for dahlias.

This was a timely topic suitable for three friend publications, and I had lots of photos, so I made a three-part story out of them: part 1- part 2 (I will incorporate the links as the stories are published)

Morges is a small city located in canton Vaud, not far from its capital Lausanne. That’s all in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Morges extends along the shore of Lac Leman (=Lake Geneva, photos here), enjoying all year long a stunning view of the ever-white Mont Blanc.

All along the coast, Morges dresses throughout the year a number of changing plant species, most of them very rich in flowers. But twice per year, two specific kinds of flowers dominate the city:

  • In April and May the city hosts the Fete des tulips, where tulips take over the city, especially its coast and the gardens behind its castle-turned-museum by the lake. The tulips, contributed by various individuals and organizations all around, are carefully arranged into artwork (I will cover this next spring!).
  • And right now, from August to October, the city hosts tens of carefully selected and arranged varieties of dahlias, set all along the coast. Here is a selection of photos of these dahlias, taken on a splendid day of September.
I think this is my preferred flower in this story. Photo by author Luciano Abriata.
