September 2022 Writing Challenge
Same Rules: There are none.

Now, don’t be upset if you didn’t get to contribute to August’s challenge or you didn’t get to contribute the way you wanted to. There’s a new one for September!
Starting September 1st there is a new writing challenge! For every weekday in September, I have posted a short writing prompt. The idea is to read the prompt and chew on it for a while before writing. Then, respond to the post for at least one hour. Post your response to the Bacon and Beach Day Publication where like-minded writers can respond to your work and you can respond to others. I have suggested that we use the rose, thorn, bud style of peer review. This means we comment on one thing we love or appreciate about the work, one thing we think needs work, and one thing that you think the author can develop either in that piece or another.
Now, let me tell you how I have prepared myself for next month’s challenge which is only a few days away. First, I have taken each prompt and created a draft. My title is the prompt, the subtitle is the date, and then I chose an image that relates to my gut reaction to the quote.

Weeks 1 and 2 are made up of one word or very short prompts. Let them take you where they do. They are based on words associated with Fall, school, or learning. However, that may not be where your mind takes you. Remember, no rules! Fiction? ok! Non-fiction? ok! Short story? Sure! Poetry? Why not!? Follow your thoughts where they lead you and share with us the results.

Week 3 is made up of short questions and Week 4 is back to short prompts. No rules! Follow your thoughts and let them drag you through your memories, or a story you heard once, or the experiences of your children…..wherever your mind takes you, write.

And because this is a challenged based on school experiences, there is an opportunity for extra credit for all of the over-achievers! Just have fun. Take from this what you want and leave the rest or challenge yourself to write every day whether you like the prompt or not! It’s completely up to you. No rules.

Have fun! Enjoy!
