September 17 — Everyday, It’s Something
The one where I try to get home
I flew back to Oregon with plans of getting an Uber to go home.
Rates are usually around $50 but today, on a Friday afternoon, it was over $100. I wasn’t going to pay that for an Uber. But I was already at the airport and having a friend pick me up probably wouldn’t work out either (rush hour traffic). I downloaded Lyft, $95, nope.
And then I thought… public transit! I paid $2.50 and got a transit pass. Hopped on the train and headed through the city. I went to the far end, as far as it could take me and hopped off. And then pondered my next move, with my phone at 6%.
I found a bus that would then take me about halfway home. I texted my roommates to see if one of them could pick me up at the transit station. Chris said he would.
I got on the bus and the driver gave me a nasty look. I wasn’t sure what to do, I pulled out my day pass and showed it to him and he pointed to where it needed to go. Ahhh, okay.
I got on the bus and was trying to time the stops to know when to get off. I’m no expert in directions.
Then I saw a Starbucks close by that I knew was close to our house so I pulled the little cord down to stop. We were stopped and I thought the doors would open. I pulled the cord a couple of more times. The bus driver gave me another dirty look and said, just push the doors open. My bad, I thought he would open them!
I got off and went to call Chris to tell him where I was since I told him to meet me at the bus stop.
And then it happened… my phone died.
Hmmmmmmmm……
I had to figure out how to get ahold of him and I found an outdoor outlet at FedEx. I plugged in and gave him a call and he made his way to me.

Alas, Chris found me and I made it home.
