Seoul Welcome Week for foreign tourists to officially start on 28 September 2023

Seoul Metropolitan Government has unveiled the schedule for the highly anticipated foreign tourist welcoming week, set to kick off on 28 September 2023.
Aptly named Seoul Welcome Week, this event is a celebration of culture, offering a warm welcome to visitors from across the globe.
While the COVID-19 pandemic caused a pause in 2020, the city is now ready to reignite the festivities and showcase the best of what Seoul has to offer.
In July, Seoul welcomed a staggering 788,592 foreign tourists, with approximately 22% hailing from China.
This impressive number, totaling 171,751 visitors, indicates the highest percentage among all foreign tourists during that month.
However, it’s important to note that the events during Seoul Welcome Week are not exclusively tailored to Chinese visitors.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government has meticulously curated an array of experiences that cater to the diverse interests of travelers from around the world.
Gimpo International Airport, a gateway for many tourists entering the country, will be transformed into a hub of cultural exploration.
Here, visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of traditional Korean clothing, known as “hanbok,” through a dedicated zone.
Additionally, a photo booth will capture the memories of this unique encounter.
For those seeking a shopping adventure, Myeong-dong, the bustling tourist hub in Seoul, will be a paradise — tourists will have the opportunity to indulge in the world-renowned K-beauty scene.
Personal color tests and makeup sessions will reveal the perfect beauty regimen tailored to each individual.
As a sweet treat, the event will showcase the flavors of Korean tradition, featuring mouthwatering delights like “yakgwa,” a delectable wheat-based dessert made with honey.
With Seoul Welcome Week, the city aims to breathe new life into its tourism industry.
Kim Young-Hwan, the director general of the Tourism and Sports Bureau at the Seoul Metropolitan Government expressed his desire to create a lasting impression of Seoul among foreign tourists, turning it into a must-visit destination that they will yearn to return to.
So if you’re visiting Korea, why not join in the week-long celebration? :’)
