Send taxes and big bills early before I buy christmas gifts

On year in early December we received a tax document that gave us the temporary taxation evaluation for our family for the upcoming year. My wife had a pretty « user centered » comment that went in words like these:

It’s smart that they send how much taxes you might have to pay before you do all the crazy expenses for Christmas. It reminds you how much money you really can use.

I didn’t realize that when I opened that document and prepared the paiements and double checked our budget. But for her it was the perfect reminder to spend smartly.

For many services that go for customers this principle can be adapted following this idea:

Send me a reminder about the big administrative expenses I will have before I do but other expenses.

This idea works well for taxes, but energy companies, water companies and so on are all services which get forgotten by the users and it might be helpful to send similar reminders.

So well done to the region of Vaud in Switzerland for that smart timing and service design approach to taxes. Could be a total random event but it nevertheless works and inspired me.
