Selling Beats Online is Actually a Really GOOD Hustle
Artists in all genre’s need instrumentals and even full on producers to make their music.
So many artists are talented vocalists and writers, but when it comes to producing instrumentals they prefer to let someone else do it. In this article we will explore building a portfolio of instrumentals, marketing them, and finally monetizing the music.
Portfolio
Putting out a wide array of beats in a specific niche on YouTube a couple times a week will result in you slowly but surely building a portfolio. This is important not only for being discoverable on the YouTube platform, but also because it allows you to have a full catalogue of your music in your pocket at any time. Consider also using it to flourish connections and spark collaborations with the artists you’ll be selling beats to soon. Your portfolio is what will, in the end, make or break an artists decision to work with you.
Marketing
Marketing music isn’t much different then promoting anything else; You need to show up in the right users feed and post clever content to send them to your beats/instrumentals. If your music isn’t good, and your portfolio weak; I’d recommend putting in more work in regards to stage 1, portfolio. YouTube Shorts is great marketing right now. For more in depth marketing strategies surrounding Shorts, I will drop a link to an article I have created around the topic:
