Article-a-Day: Sell More Books & Ebooks
2 simple two word phrases that make all the difference
Creating small articles is a great tool for the author of traditional books and ebooks. At the same time, authors are the one group I traditionally here the most resistance from about content creation.
Weird, huh?
It usually comes in the form of a question: “But why would I want to give away anything I write for free?”
My answer is always the same: “Only if you want to sell more books in less time.”
And the really good news is you only have to remember two phrases:
“articles about” and “articles from”
Articles About
This is such a no-brainer, I’m always surprised more authors do not do it. Write 300–500 word articles about the topic of your book and/or sub-topics within your book. Write lots of articles around your topic. In the call to action at the end of your article, send them to an opt-in page where they can trade their email address for a small sample of the book. Deliver the small sample and on the same page offer them the entire book.
Articles From
A 300 page book is full of 300 word articles. If your book is less than or more than 300 pages, the same principle applies.
Take a 300–500 word sample of your book and turn it into an article. Do this several times. Think of these 300–500 word articles as appetizers and your book in the main course.

Then in the call to action at the end of your article lead your reader to an opt-in page where they can trade their email address for more information from you. When you deliver the next set of information, offer them your main course, your book.
I know, I know: you still have doubts about “giving away” your information. Try it only if you want to sell more books with short articles.
