Self-reflection — A Deep Conversation With Yourself
Get to know why you do what you do or say what you say.
Self-reflection is a humbling process. It’s essential to find out why you think, say, and do certain things… then better yourself — -Sonya Teclai
My evening walk gives me time to review my day. Sometimes, it takes 5 minutes, and on a stressful day, it makes the rest of the trail — 30–45 minutes. I always discover something about myself, what I did, and the motive behind my action and inaction.
Self-reflection can be emotionally draining, and that’s the reason many people choose not to do it. It works for me and others, and it saves time, money, and energy. It can improve your overall well-being and possibly reduce the number of hours you spend with your therapist or business coach.
A regular one-on-one conversation with yourself will give you a better look at your life, family, community, and society.
Schedule a time and put it on your calendar, for example, on Mondays between 6 pm -6:05 pm in your study or bedroom. There is no one-size-fits-all. You can incorporate three things during your one -on -one conversation — -review what you did, said, and your motive behind stuff you did that day.
Here are some of the questions I always ask myself during my conversation time. And you can create different questions you need to ask yourself and work hard to answer them as much as you can. Remember to be grateful, preserve, and forgive during your self-discovery journey.
- Am I living true to myself today?
- Have I achieved the goal I set for today?
- Who or what inspired me today?
- Did I empower someone today? — -actions and words.
- How was my thought process for the day?
