Self-Publishing a Book Your Audience Wants to Read Will Reward You in Multiple Ways
Sure you’ll make some money, but it’s much more than that!

I became an author in October 2021.
I am an author.
Those are words I never imagined I would say.
Not only did I not think I would ever publish a book, but I never even had a desire to become an author before 2021.
My audience is the reason I decided to write a book and become an author.
They kept asking questions and for help related to creating digital assets online for profit, which was something I had been doing successfully for over a year by then.
So I opened up a Google Doc and started writing.
I did it the minimalist way.
- I broke the book down into an outline.
- Broke each item in the outline into sections.
- And then filled everything in.
- Added some pictures.
- Created the cover myself in Canva.
- Published it on Gumroad.
Later, I had it published all over (Amazon, Apple, Google, Barnes & Noble, and a dozen more) thanks to PublishDrive.
Over 300 copies have been sold so far.
It’s the only book I’ve ever “written”, and it’s not even in my top 10 books (by sales) that I’ve self-published.
Read that last part again, and then let me explain.
Writing a book isn’t the only way you can offer your audience one.
I’ve self-published over 500 books, but all of the other books are low/no-content books, meaning books that have no (or little) written content in them like journals, planners, workbooks, activity books, etc.
You have options, and you can try many different ones.
No matter which way you choose, having a book out there means a lot more than just income and profits.
It will add credibility and trust to you and/or your brand.
On top of that, once published on different platforms it can put you in front of new people who could become part of your audience, a customer, and in some cases a friend!
Here are the steps to take if you want to self-publish a book.
- Come up with the idea for the book.
- Choose a title for the book.
- Write an outline if it’s a regular book, or sketch the interior of the book if it’s a low/no-content book.
- Finish the manuscript (interior) of the book.
- Design a cover for the book.
- Publish your book on any platform you want (Amazon KDP is free and easy to use with a large marketplace and audience for your book).

My favorite type of book to publish (and read) lately are what I call “minimalist books”. I define them as books under 120 pages for standard sizes (6x9 or smaller) or 80 pages for anything larger.
What type of book will you offer your newsletter audience?
