Self-discovery Through Poetry Challenge Prompt:- 22

Greetings poets,

We all have come so far. There are only three prompts left for the challenge.

Today’s prompt is related to teenage life. Teenage life is a mixture of ups and downs.

I am not the older one to talk about it because I am still very young. But some so many poets are very experienced in life.

However, teenage life is the most crucial phase of anyone’s life.

"Every teenager in the world feels like that, feels broken or out of place, different somehow, royalty mistakenly born into a family of peasants. The difference in your case is that it's true."

- Cassandra Clare.

Teenage is the time of life when you are going through lots of new changes in life. It becomes hard to understand life.

Today’s prompt is,

If you can time travel, what will you tell your teenage self?

When I was 14 or 15, I was too conscious about my looks. I think every teenager can relate to that. We all had a phage in our lives when we gave too much priority to our looks.

I think I had a more good time in my teenage years if I knew that looks are not the most important thing in life.

I know that people say it easy that looks don’t matter, but it’s not the thing. It’s easy to say and hard to believe.

“You just have to do what suits you, and it doesn’t matter if you don’t look like everybody else. Be you. That’s our gift and we’ve got to celebrate that.”

- Author: Helena Bonham Carter

It took me so much time to accept my real self. Because of the fear of physical look, I never praised myself and practiced self-care.

On Medium, I am not only on the journey of writing but I am also on a journey of accepting myself and loving myself more.

I wish I was more confident to show my real self to the world. I wish I never had a fear of judgments so I was able to truly do more things during my teenage life.

I know we all have something to say to our teenage selves. So, this prompt is an opportunity to share those inner words.

I understood it after a long time that we all have our hearts until the last breath of our life. We all will lose our looks. We should try to make our hearts good and young than our looks to make life good.

“Beauty doesn’t matter because in the end, we all lose our looks and all we have is our heart.”

-Ann Curry

Stay young and keep your heart young by believing in yourself.
