Self-discovery Through Poetry Challenge Prompt:- 1

Welcome you all to the first day of the challenge. Hope you all are much excited to take a part in it.

On the first day of this challenge, I was very confused to choose a topic. I want to give this challenge a great start. So, here I am with another thought-provoking prompt.

As a teen, I never look at life closely. I had a very narrow perspective and a mind. What I want from life are very simple things. I only wanted money, a high-status job, and the ability to buy lots of stuff.

However, when I took a dig deep at Life, I found so many important things in life. I used to think that materialistic things will give me happiness. When I eat my favorite food, I will be happiest. When I will be able to buy all those expensive things, I will be happiest and satisfied.

On the other side, I realized no matter how expensive the thing is once I will get it and used it, I lost the importance of not having it in my life. Once, we get what we want we forget the importance of it. No matter, how eager you are to eat your favorite food, once you had it you can’t be the happiest person. It’s just the nature of human beings that we want this, we want that. Once we get all these things, nothing will change either our emotions or our lives.

Then, what is the one thing that can change your life?

True and happy life should be lived on values. I was living my life on wrong values such as money, wealth, perfection, materialism, and achievements.

Life living without any values is waste of time and life itself. The above-mentioned values are not bad, they are important to living a balanced life. On the other side, if you want to be truly happy and satisfied with your life, none of them will work for you.

I had no ideas about who I was and what were my values.

Earlier, I was living my life by others’ values. I never tried to find about myself and my life. When you live by others' values, life becomes hard to live.

So, what is the value that I can’t live my life without?

For me, kindness is my priority. Humanity needs kindness. I am not seeing life without kindness. Kindness is a great value that not only helps other people it helps both the people the one who is showing it and the ones who are receiving it.

The most important thing I like about kindness is, that kindness is contagious. By showing kindness to others we can make a chain of kindness and makes this earth a safe place to live.

I believe, nowadays the biggest problem of the world is, we all are busy letting others down. When you let down others, you directly or indirectly let yourself down as well. We all can grow together by showing kindness to each other. However, no one wants to choose that option. Everyone wants to let down others so that they can reach the top.

“With all of the bad things that are happening in the world right now, I think we need a message of togetherness and true unity. I believe that starts with personal reflection and then we can find kindness toward each other.”

-Marielle Heller

You can only be happy when you let others be happy. To make yourself and others happy, show some kindness and pass it to others.

Let’s make everyone happy and kind. It’s time to reflect on ourselves and find what is the thing that is most important to us.

So, here is your first prompt.

Write a poem about the one special value that you can’t give up on at any cost? A value that makes your life more enjoyable and necessary for you to live a great life.

I hope you liked the prompt and it helps you to discover yourself.

With this prompt, I do have another question for you to reflect on. Tell me something that other people value that you don’t?

I would like to sum up this piece by mentioning my favorite quote that I always read when I am finding it hard to keep my values.

“One thing I didn’t understand in life was that I had $100,000,000 in the bank and I couldn’t buy happiness. I had everything: mansions, yachts, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, but I was depressed. I didn’t know where I fitted in. But then I found family and friends and I learned the value of life.”
