SELF-CONTROL, AN IMPORTANT HELP

Self-control is linked with one’s spirit and the consciousness of oneself

Lexico-Oxford Dictionary defined self-control as the ability to control oneself, in particular to emotions and desires, especially in difficult situations.

Self-control is an important aspect of personal discipline, which a person imbues on himself despite what could be going on around him, competing for him to behave otherwise.

We have the power to choose and decide what we want to be, and how we want to respond to issues of life, no matter how bad the circumstance is.

The Will of God in creation is for humanity to be in a constant joyful and upward striving, first by opening himself anew to the power flowing from above.

The man of today rather closes himself from higher recognitions. He has bound himself too firmly to the material substance.

He first needs to become conscious of his ego, his core is spirit so that this recognition will make self-control very much easier for him.

He has to put the body, his feelings, his thoughts, constantly under the control of the spirit, thereby he curbs his instincts and temperaments while keeping his imagination within its natural bounds.

The instinct of the body, which manifests in feeling is beneficial in a way to man, but if he losses control over them, and gets unrestrained, he becomes a plaything to his feelings. This can make him unpredictable and moody, and finally, make him go along the path of evil deeds. He can fall to the worse kind of passion.

The opposite of self-control is irresponsible letting go of oneself, which is the root of all injurious things and fostered propensity to what is bad. This, unfortunately, is an act of self-destruction which can lead to other greater evil, like murder for instance.

A newspaper reported a young man in his thirties killed a seventy-six-year-old man in a road rage argument. This is an example of letting go of oneself that led to the murder.

To become a human being who through the maturity of his spirit, knows how to control himself in an exemplary way in all situations, is a high goal.
