#30DAYSOFSCIKUCHALLENGE

Seeking — Human Kindness

Day 17 Prompt: A Prosocial Research Inspired Sciku

Photo by Bekky Bekks on Unsplash

one simple warm smile small random act of kindness can uplift and heal

The current geopolitical landscape leaves many of us feeling down, disconnected, and perhaps even wondering how we get along and find common ground?

While we might disagree on the individual matters of policy, I hope you will agree that we are all unified in our resolve to make this world a better place for us and future generations — So what does it take — many things are worthy of consideration — but perhaps seeking and engaging in individual acts of kindness is part of the solution.

In fact, researchers have long studied the impact of prosocial behaviors on an individual and group well-being. A recent meta-analysis suggests a significant association between prosocial behaviors and well-being.

Specifically, their analysis indicated a stronger link between kindness and eudaimonic well-being (meaning — self-actualization, realizing one’s potential, and finding meaning in life) than between kindness and hedonic well-being (meaning — happiness and positive feelings).

From holding the door open for a stranger to sending your loved ones some flowers for no reason, giving a nice complement to a stranger to a bright smile to make someone’s day — there are endless ideas for how you can engage in random acts of kindness today — I hope you will consider it.

Thank you for reading!
