Summary

The undefined website presents a reflective writing prompt focused on exploring personal resilience, inviting readers to contribute their stories, poems, or doodles to the Vagabond Voices community, alongside showcasing inspiring works from various authors and offering a newsletter subscription for further engagement.

Abstract

The undefined website is a platform for a writing and living prompt from Vagabond Voices, titled "Seeds of Resilience." It encourages contributors to express their concept of resilience through writing, drawing, or any creative form, suggesting it could be represented as a plant or animal, a poem, or a narrative. The prompt asks creators to consider the texture and origin of their resilience, whether it's self-generated or comes from the support of others, and in what form it manifests in their lives. If one is not feeling particularly resilient, the prompt suggests seeking out moments of inspiration in daily life to reignite that flame. The website also introduces a community aspect by inviting newcomers to engage with the publication and its curator through comments or a dedicated online form. Additionally, the site highlights a selection of writings from authors such as Mary McGrath, Isabella Moimaz, James G Brennan, and Michael Madill, which contribute to the theme of resilience. The page concludes with a nod to other creative opportunities in the form of a new publication to write for, a newsletter by Lisa Bolin known for her sculpture poetry, a language learning initiative by Gosia Rokicka, and the deeply touching stories of Lee Ameka, encouraging continued inspiration and community connection.

Opinions

  • The curator of the Vagabond Voices publication expresses an eagerness to read the resilience stories of the contributors.
  • The prompt suggests that resilience can be tangible and felt, inviting contributors to imagine it as a physical entity.
  • There is an emphasis on the importance of living experiences as the first part of the writing process, suggesting that writing is not only about the written word but also about the lived moment.
  • The inclusion of a variety of works from different authors implies a belief in the diversity of resilience and the power of storytelling to inspire and connect individuals.
  • The curator offers resources for further engagement beyond the prompt, indicating a commitment to fostering an ongoing community of writers and creators.
  • The mention of Lisa Bolin's newsletter and Gosia Rokicka's language learning initiative suggests that the curator values interdisciplinary approaches to creativity and resilience.
  • The acknowledgment of Lee Ameka's writing indicates that the curator is moved by personal storytelling and its potential to resonate with readers on a profound level.

Seeds of Resilience

A Vagabond Voices Writing and Living Prompt

.Fireweed, the first thing to grow back after a fire — it’s seeds are tiny, whisps…photo source.

Fireweed

Slip of seed sent skyward on scorched winds, heavenbound, then weighted back to earth, pulled down by the mists of our upward cries and rising tears to land, a miracle, on fertile soil, soul, or (even) sand and, caressed by the rain, called up by the sun, lifts life upward, once. Again.

What does your resilience look like?

Literally, metaphorically…if it were a plant and animal…a poem…or a story.

Write it, scribble it, doodle it…and bring it here.

What matter is it made of? How does it feel in the palm of your hand?

Who brings it to you the hand of a loved one present…past?

It is it a gift you give yourself? A moment lived and noticed. Saved and repeated.

How does it arrive? In a cup when you are parched…or in the form of a warm blanket when you are chilled to the bone?

Bring us your story, your song…your so many words.

Not feeling very resilient right now?

Write about what you might need in your life to get back there.

Better yet, go out and ‘have a moment’ and then bring it back. Tell us about that walk in the grass, that cup of coffee, that run, that moment with your journal…or your friend.

Sometimes, going out to live is the first part of the writing process.

I can’t wait to read your stories.

If you’re new to this publication, you can reach out to me in the comments or with this form.

And if you’d like to sign up for the Vagabond Newsletter and get a short and sweet journaling challenge and future prompts on this season’s theme of writing for resilience…you can sign up here.

And from beyond Vagabond…a few things you might love…

Here is a great new publication from LB you may want to write for…or just read, view, enjoy…

And I don’t know if you all know but Lisa Bolin who brought us scultpure poetry (!) has a very cool newsletter and is, in my opinion, a fine example of resilience.

Then there is Gosia Rokicka an incredible writer and person who is going in an interesting new direction with language learning…for the multilinguals among us…

And I’d also like to share the work of a writer who I can’t wait to read more from and who has touched me with her stories already, Lee Ameka.

and

Thanks for reading. Wherever you are, stay inspired and stay in touch.
