Abstract

we feed our fragile egos, the more damage it causes by disconnecting us from our true selves, our souls.

Therefore, collectively, we need to starve our egos so that the pureness of our souls can shine through. Stop allowing our egos to rob us of our true nature. We need to get back to a state of being, a state of purity, a state of love, and empathy for each other. See Beneath Me

Let Your True Colors Shine

Tuesday Inspiring Prompt#5: Starve the ego

Open your eyes and see The hurt in my heart The pain The emptiness in my soul The despair The voices in my head The chaos The tears in my eyes The sadness Open your eyes and see See beneath me.

Disclaimer: This piece was written when I was in a dark place. I am letting my true colors shine in the name of love.

There are so many of humans who are functioning in this world as mere façades of their true nature. We were conditioned to be driven by our ego selves who are in control of the way we think, the way we act, and the way we treat others. Our ego selves are meant to cause chaos in our lives. To disrupt the natural flow of our souls that are pure and tranquil. When we strip away our egos and look beneath them, what will we find?

Is there a kind loving person or is there a fragile human in a state of chaos and despair? The human ego is volatile, and it craves attention. The more we feed our fragile egos, the more damage it causes by disconnecting us from our true selves, our souls. Therefore, collectively, we need to starve our egos so that the pureness of our souls can shine through. Stop allowing our egos to rob us of our true nature. We need to get back to a state of being, a state of purity, a state of love, and empathy for each other. Revealing our true colors, that beauty that lies beneath all the façade, the true colors of our infinite souls.

𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘊. wrote a piece asking how to awaken compassion and we had an exchange that inspired me to write this piece. Thank you Diana.

I also found inspiration in a piece written by Priyanka Srivastava that asks who we are when we are alone.

Finally, I have to reference Cyndi Lauper’s song True Colors because it was in my head the entire time I wrote this piece.

This is written in response to 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘊.’s Tuesday Inspiring Prompt#5.

Thank you all for reading. And thank you 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘊. for creating the space so that we all can revisit stages in our lives, tell our stories, grow, and heal. KTHT has been a rollercoaster, one that I don’t mind riding.
