TKL Monday Mashup #29 Part 1/3
Second Life
I’m a guy, but I was hit by a truck and now I’m a girl in another world!

Theon was perched on a barstool surveying the club. It was loud and dimly lit and this was a Medieval theme night which were always well-attended. The dance floor was thick with gyrating bodies: women clad in long, unusually modest dresses. Men in baggy trousers and tunics didn’t let their unflattering wardrobe prevent them from pressing tightly against the behinds of women they may or may not have arrived with. In spite of it not quite fitting the theme, the DJ pounded bass out of the speakers at a decibel level that made conversation almost impossible. To remedy this communication difficulty, Theon had developed hand signals and then taught them to the other bouncers and the bartenders. He took his job as head of security very seriously.
Keeping tabs on everyone, he did a quick scan for Sienna, Dane, and Tyler, but couldn’t stop his eyes from lingering on Roxy as she flowed gracefully back and forth behind the bar, taking drink orders, pouring, making change. She looked particularly lovely tonight, he thought, and made a mental note to tell her so at the end of their shift. In the spirit of the Medieval theme, she wore a long purple gown with gold and deep red ornamentation on the sleeves, bodice, and neckline. It was cut low so that he could see the swell of her breasts and he had to remind himself not to ogle them the way some of the lecherous night club-goers did. An old-fashioned golden hairpiece completed the look. He admired the way it still managed to twinkle in the low light of the club.
Something was off. Theon focused more carefully on her face. Concern crinkled her eyebrows and she was leaning awkwardly away from a patron, as if she was being held. There wasn’t enough light for her to see him on the other side of the room, but Theon watched her eyes searching and then her hand made the sign for help. He stood immediately. Dane, another bouncer, was closer but not paying attention. Theon cursed as he pushed his way impatiently through the crowd of dancers. His nostrils flared against the acrid scent of sweaty bodies and spilled booze.
By the time he got to Roxy’s bar, Dane had clued in and was apparently trying to reason with this asshole customer who had made Roxy feel uncomfortable. Theon assessed the scene. The guy was maybe early 30’s, good looking. He had opted to come as medieval royalty and carried an air of entitlement that immediately put Theon off. He wasn’t close enough to hear what Dane was saying, but he spotted a cheque and a pen on the bar. There weren’t a lot of possibilities; no one paid for drinks with a cheque. Was this dickweed trying to buy Roxy? Her time? Her body?
He muscled his way closer and made eye contact with her. Right away her shoulders dropped some of their tension and she flashed him a relieved smile. The guy was starting to raise his voice at Dane, starting to get belligerent. Insisting that he hadn’t done anything wrong, and then offering a sarcastic apology for trying to give an extra large tip to the frigid bitch who would probably just lie there anyway and wasn’t worth — — KTHUNK!
Theon’s fist connected with the guy’s jaw. Before the customer could retaliate, Theon grabbed one arm, Dane took the other and they hauled him towards the back door and out into the alley. Unfortunately, it was exactly the wrong timing. A delivery truck was barreling down the narrow strip between buildings: a shortcut to meet a deadline, no doubt. Theon did not have time to get out of the way. The impact flung him up in the air, body twisting into unnatural angles before he slammed against the brick siding. His last thought before his world went dark was of Roxy and how he hadn’t gotten a chance to tell her how beautiful she was as a medieval queen.
