Seaside Grays: Clouds, Rocks, the Sea
Penang Seaside Views

We have been traveling in Southeast Asia for almost 3 months. Currently, we are renting a condo in the Miami Beach area in Penang, Malaysia for a month.
Our condo is within walking distance of Miami Beach on the Batu Ferringhi section of the coastal road, but we didn’t walk down to the beach until yesterday. The beach area is an interesting mix of a stretch of sand and large rounded boulders.

To my delight, there was a couple having a picnic on a rock while two young girls played and searched for shells on the sandy beach.

Penang has many, many, many high-rise condos, so a gray condo building or two is almost always in view in the distance. The last of the sunlight reflected off the rain clouds overhead as the sun dipped below the horizon beyond the condo.

The boulders are smooth from years of weathering. A fisherman walked across the top of them to stand on firm ground overlooking the water. I watched him casting his line over and over again but didn’t see him catch a fish.

I appreciated the beautiful view of the water below and the clouds above as I watched him fishing.

We returned to the beach again this evening to enjoy the view and to enjoy the food at a small cafe on the beach. The cafe was the site of a Tsunami Miracle. Please read Gerad Carrier’s story of the miracle that occurred here in 2004.

We were blessed to see a double rainbow as we sat in the cafe and talked to Raja and Mary, the owners of the cafe about their Tsunami Miracle.

We are only in Penang for 2 more weeks before returning to our home in Florida. During the time we are here, we will visit the cafe and walk along the beach to enjoy more sunsets.
