A Pitstop To Remember — Episode 20

Today, I am not talking about some high-end streets of Paris or Lyon. That everyone knows, or at least heard of. But let me take you to a place that is unheard of as only locals come across such unique spots — Ax Les Thermes.

It is a small town in between France and Andorra. Okay, so where is Andorra? Well, it is another European country that lies between Spain and France — all on the mountain ranges. I will talk about it some other day, perhaps. All you need to know for now that it is a small country which is known as a shopper’s paradise and a piece of heaven.

So, as we approach Andorra in search of snow, shopping, and food, we come across this small place called Ax-Les-Thermes. There, you will find scenic spots, nice resting places, and cute little restaurants. All of which to fill the urge of your tummy and give the needed rest to your automobile.

This place is 100+ km from Toulouse and we also came across it as a stroke of luck one time as we were heading for Barcelona. The kids were crazy for snow and this place had lots of it. So, we got off the car, had our lunch, took many many pictures, and enjoyed our hearts out with the season’s first snow fight.

There are also cable cars in the area which is a great tourist attraction. Plus, small hotels and air bnb places to spend a night or two. This place is also very economical as most tourists prefer going and staying in Andorra or nearby cities in Spain.

I have been there so many times, and it has become a family ritual to visit this place once or twice every winter. Can’t wait to be there again.
