POETRY
Sea Bound
a poetry collaboration with the talented Eli Snow instigated by kurt gasbarra

Devolve Crush back into yourself First man Then ape Keep going All the way back Into lungfish Crawl back into the ocean Same way you Crawl back into bed When you’re drunk and faded Wrap those surface tension sheets around your head Forget about all this mess As if it were a bad dream
To think once the aspiring protege The next great captain Of a fine fishing vessel, You let your personal tragedy rule your Preordained destiny Dishonouring the memories Of those who left you behind.
Dreams became your Pitiful reality your failed escape plan, Your route always blocked By none other than your Psychosomatic self Choking for air through bacterial gills Or is it parasites this time? Always the excuse to never move forward Smothering any pathetic potential Once held.
Bubbling up to the sick surface With the last of the dissolved oxygen Touching the sky sideways With your limp curvature Plastic wrapper clothing Chokes out the final whisper of air Fisheye oblivion You did this to your planet Now look at it.
Thank you kurt gasbarra for getting the wonderfully talented Eli Snow and myself together for this poetry collaboration. I walk in the shadow of giants…
Thank you Dr Mehmet Yildiz and the Illumination team for giving our words a platform… Thank you all for reading… K. E. J.
