Scripts

Is it just me, but I have this thought that our lives are pre-written scripts, drafted by our beautiful minds. As we age, become more emotionally mature and as we evolve, I often feel that our “scripts” have perhaps led some of us to become comfortable in stagnation. The stagnation often leads to victimhood, helplessness, or to the wrong beliefs of “This is so impossibly hard!”. That was possibly the case until we all got into this massive world crash and we all found ourselves pretty much back to base levels. A wrecking ball hit us, sized 60–140 nm in diameter.
A virus that attacks our ability to breathe. For many of us, it would not stop us from continuing to embrace and to breathe life, it just possibly led us into a path of change, but for sure it made us uncomfortable as the new realities hit. A virus that made us silent and jittery as we were forced to retreat in our cocoons, in the safety of our home in forced isolation. At any rate, that was possibly a script we had hidden somewhere deep in our minds, a script is written in the name of fear and resistance to change. But why do we mere mortals resist change, why do we so love to live our lives in a pre-written script? Why do we complain about the Status Quo, when deep down we thrive in the Status Quo as it feels safe?
“It is his destiny, it is her fate”. Could we begin a new chapter in our journeys without pre-written scripts and deep beliefs that our lives are dictated by fate? As children, our parents told us “It is God's will”. To me, that triggers fear. God, The Divine, comes to us and helps us form a sacred space of love and kindness, and yet our belief system perhaps taught us otherwise: fear and suffering. Fear for God, or else. Live in conflict and fight fire with fire. Why? Could we softly change that script to simply: “Love God and others”? Can we change the script to acceptance and respect of differences without stepping into conflict? Move away from the perpetrator but learn to develop compassion as this person suffers.
I have hope that, as we gently mourn our old lives and old selves, we will learn to live in acceptance of this nano millimetre virus, one of 10 nonillions, just as we can learn to accept one another whilst taking back our powers. We ought to acknowledge that we are all in shock and that many of us live in fear and in the anxiety of the unknown. But is it because we were so programmed to a pre-written script that our brains have gone into perpetual fight and flight mode. Perhaps we can softly change our scripts by ditching overthinking and old beliefs that no longer serve us. Perhaps we should practise gratitude a little more often and thank ourselves for evolving into more powerful beings. Perhaps it is high time we see the world with a different lens and have more faith in the Universe and The Divine. Perhaps we ought to ditch the ‘I am a helpless victim’ mindset from our scripts. Eventually… perhaps we should just ditch the old script and re-write a new one, day by day and one step at a time.
We perceive the world as we think it; we perceive the world just as we read the script we wrote, somewhere deep inside in our beautiful subconscious minds. We hold beliefs from our ancestors, and perhaps these no longer serve us in this fast-evolving world. There are no apps to life, no programming codes, but we can for sure step out of the pre-formatted Matrix, step out of a somewhat poorly pre-written script, to live a life worth living for.
Sending you all light and joy.
