Scribbles In The Sand
Paper Poetry Prompt #2

Coming to a tropical beach is like coming home The warm salty water a refuge, an embrace It forgives me all my sins the instant it touches me
As I float on my back, arms splayed out I see the mountains on one side, oceanic horizon on the other A golden globule of warm honey gratitude submerges my heart
Thank you, universe, I murmur, this is sheer bliss
I paddle to the shore and walk a few feet Wet sand rising like shifting tectonic plates between my toes I crouch by the waterline and scribble in the sand
Something of ephemeral beauty, capturing the wonder bestowed As I walk away into the future, I turn back one last time There are my scribbles, marks of a rebel love.
One more moment, and a wave washes them away I crown the ocean’s wise judgement with a half-smile Goodbye, I say. And I walk away.
