Author reflections
Scratch the Surface of a Happy Person…
…and you’ll find a project.
I speak to a lot of authors. As you might expect, most are very interested in results:
- Book sales
- KDP page reads
- Bestseller tags
It’s only natural. After all, this is their business. But is selling books what keeps them going?
In many cases, a more motivating aspect is the project itself. The novel/series is their thing, and they can shape it any way they want.
Freedom to explore is motivating.
I heard someone say recently:
“Scratch the surface of a happy person and you’ll find a project.”
People are motivated by things they’re good at, and by connecting with others. Your own passion project can boost happiness.
So what is it? And are you giving it the attention it deserves?
