Scott L. Steward, founder of Genius Lab, Inc., and Leroy Peters, founder of The 7th University, LLC, announce an unprecedented collaboration aimed at tackling the challenges faced by Black and Latino students in public education.

Pioneers in Education Team Up

Scott and Peters are no strangers to making an impact in their communities. With Scott’s background in tech education and Peters’ experience in educational consulting, this collaboration is a match made in heaven — or should we say, a genius meeting of minds.

Scott Steward, a seasoned tech educator, has taught at esteemed institutions like Roosevelt University, Chicago State University, and DePaul University. His educational initiatives even extend internationally, to the University of Guanajuato in Mexico. Mr. Steward founded Genius Lab with the mission to empower young Black and Latinx boys to become the next generation of tech entrepreneurs.

On the other side, Leroy Peters brings an impressive educational pedigree to the table. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences, with a focus on General Studies and Humanities — Organizational Communication. During his undergraduate years, he was an active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Peters later advanced his expertise with a Masters of Arts in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from Governors State University.

Addressing Systemic Issues

This joint venture focuses on resolving issues like chronic absenteeism, bullying, gang involvement, and low scores in reading, math, and science. The goal is simple but audacious: Increase high school graduation rates and turn the school-to-prison pipeline into a school-to-success pipeline.

A New Approach to Learning

Both Genius Lab and The 7th University specialize in creating immersive, hands-on educational experiences. “Our approach transcends traditional education. We’re focusing on practical knowledge that students can apply in the real world,” said Mr. Steward. Genius Lab and The 7th University are all about making learning fun and relatable.

Beyond the Classroom

But it doesn’t stop there. This initiative aims to create new business owners and college graduates. “We’re teaching these kids not just to survive, but to thrive,” Leroy Peters chimes in, emphasizing that education isn’t just about what happens in a classroom, it’s about real-world skills and self-worth.
