School of Fish Swims in Perfect Harmony with Nature

March Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Movement”

Fish for love, ‘bait’ with heart

One, two, three, four, five,

Once I caught a fish alive.

Six, seven, eight, nine, ten,

Then I let it go again…

I am sure that every friend of mine here would remember this nursery rhyme jolly well.

I fondly remember this poem when I come across this vibrant, agile, and beautiful school of fish during my visit to Baijnath temple at Bageshwar, Uttarakhand, India.

The temple holds historical and religious significance constructed in the 12th century built by the Katyuri kings.

According to Hindu mythology, this is the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married at the confluence of River Gomti and Garur Ganga.

The Baijnath temple is actually a temple complex situated on the left bank of the Gomti River with the idols of Shiva, Ganesh, Parvati, Chandika, Kuber, Surya and Brahma. The town of Baijnath got its name from the temple.

Just adjacent to Baijnath temple in its premises lies one huge water tank where you get to see many fish primarily of Mahseer or Mahaseer variety.

The Golden Mahseer inhabits the Himalayan foothills, the Indus, Ganga and Brahmaputra basins and can also be found down south in the Balamore, Cauvery, Tambraparini, and Kosi Rivers.

It’s an absolute delight spending some time in green space and with the fish in abundance playing in perfect harmony with Mother Nature, co-existing together—and in me, I discover no noise, no headaches, no restlessness — instead, I discover a healthy and seamless exchange among my mind, body and soul in perfect harmony! Quite a movement indeed!

We can bring nature into our everyday life that would benefit both our mental and physical well-being. What say friends?

If you fish and catch nothing, you have still caught a lesson- Matshona Dhliwayo

Love and warmth Mary and to your prolific SWPSC team for such a lovely space and for the amazing March prompt ❤
