School Friendships Last A Lifetime?

Yes, they can.

I love my friends. There are a select few people in my life who I am proud to call my friends. As I grew older, I realized it's not the number of friends one has, it's the quality of the friendship. I’d rather have 5 close friends than 100 friends who I barely know.

I have a close group of friends from high school. Yes, we all went our separate ways after school but we still remained close. We all kept in contact with each other, giving life updates and how we are progressing through studies and work. We are a fun bunch of girls who all have big dreams and ambitions. What I love about this group of people is that no matter how many hiccups, mistakes, or errors we make, we support each other without judgment. Someone broke up for the 10th time, we are there for her. Someone has a sick parent who needs help with a grocery run, we pick her up and help her out. Someone has an interview soon, we run mock interviews with her. Someone is looking for a job, we send any openings we know of.

We all followed very different career paths so we learn a lot about each other's career pathways and discuss ways to improve ourselves. There is no ego in our group. None of us think we are better than the other. We are just a bunch of girls who have known each other since we were 13 and love each other's company.

The best part of this friendship is that it is low maintenance friendship. What do I mean by that? Well, we go for weeks or months without speaking to each other but still remain friends. We check in on each other and make sure we are there for each other in times of difficulty. To me, that's a true friend.
