Scarred For Life
My body and soul will never be the same

This scar gave you life. It brought you to me.
Big-eyed screaming and ready for love.
It reminds me of my strength, my gift, my journey.
To You.
It severed my ties to vanity. My stomach will never look the same. Nor will my life.
I wrote this poem in the shape of my C-section scar during a writing workshop. We studied other pieces of work where the words formed certain shapes or artwork.
I’ve enjoyed playing with poetry as a way to think outside the box and let go of my fear with creative writing.
