Scaling Heights of Holiday Cheer

Our 9ft Tall Snowman Adventure!

So how do you celebrate Christmas for twenty-five days straight?

It’s all about the small stuff and making memories. Some days we do big events like seeing the Trans Siberian Orchestra or Christmastown at Busch Gardens. Then other days we do smaller things like decorate the tree, or re-watch some of our favorite holiday movies and tv shows.

Day 2: We live in Richmond, which is known for its famous tacky light houses. There are even tacky light tours with buses and limos full of families and friends “oohing” and “aaahing” over each of the tacky light houses.

When we first got married, we both had big dreams of being one of those houses. Then we bought our first set of lights and quickly realized how much work goes into creating a house worth the drive by.

Alas, we quickly gave up and decided we would go small, adding a new snowman to our collection every year. As years have come and gone, I always find myself in the hunt for the perfect snowman to add to our growing collection.

I finally found it! The snowman of all snowmen! It’s a 9ft tall blow up snowman head. I was so excited seeing my husband's face when he unwrapped his big gift.

Now was the hunt for the perfect place to put it. The first year we put him in the yard with the rest of the snowmen, but we both felt like we wanted him to be somewhere special, somewhere that he would stand out against all the other decorations. And then we figured it out, the roof!

Having put nothing on a roof before, it was quite the adventure to figure out the best way to anchor him and we realized we don’t own a ladder!

So my husband crawled out of my office window onto the roof and, like magic, it worked!

We love him so much! Now I have to try to find something to top that gift. The search is on!
