Say ‘No’ To These Things To Gain 3,000 Followers In A Few Months
Your writing career may be ruined…
Even after years of education, some people mess up a lot of things. For me, these things are algebra, and for you, it can be physics or biology. For many other people, it can be grammar or vocabulary.
The fact is that no two people can view one thing in the same way. Everyone has their own opinions, thoughts, and ideas. While writing an article, words, and phrases that look good to you may look useless to the reader.
When somebody checks a writer’s profile and plans to follow them, the very first thing they want to know is how many articles the writer has published. Also, they are interested in knowing whether the work is worth their time or not. If you want to gain up to 3,000 followers, then you have to say ‘no’ to the following writing mistakes.
Run-On Sentences Or Comma Splice
No reader wants to read a post that has plenty of run-on sentences. A run-on sentence is a sentence that joins two independent clauses without any punctuation or appropriate conjunction. Similarly, a comma splice is a sentence that uses a comma to join two different clauses without proper conjunction. It is important to fix such sentences as soon as possible. An example is given below.
Incorrect
John is quite smart, he starts reading articles when he has enough time.
Correct
John is quite smart. He reads articles whenever he has sufficient time.
Pronoun Disagreement Or Errors
A pronoun error occurs when the pronoun doesn’t agree in number with the noun to which it refers. For example, if the noun is singular, then the pronoun also needs to be singular. Similarly, if the noun is plural, then the pronoun should also be plural. Here is an example for you.
Incorrect
Every girl needs to bring their breakfast.
Correct
Every girl needs to bring her breakfast.
Sentence Fragments
A sentence fragment is another grammar mistake that will make your readers feel that you don’t know anything about writing. Prove them wrong by fixing this error. A fragment happens when two or more ideas are presented in the same sentence. Please check the following example.
Incorrect
Susan stayed at home the day before yesterday. Because she was not feeling well.
Correct
Susan stayed at home the day before yesterday because she was feeling unwell.
