Summary

The website content discusses an artwork titled "Santa Attacked By Pets," part of the "Yule Tide Weird Part 2" series, with reflections on the artist's technique and teases about background stories and a related book series.

Abstract

The "Santa Attacked By Pets" piece, created by Ryan Klemek in 2005 using watercolor on paper, is the focus of December's prompt on the website. The artist expresses dissatisfaction with the perspective of the fish tank and bookshelf in the artwork but is pleased with the depiction of Santa and the animals. Klemek hints at deeper narratives within the painting, such as the significance of the books and the origin of his T-shirt company name "Donkeyshines," which was established three years after the painting's creation. The artist suggests that the fish in the tank could turn the tide of the Santa-pets confrontation and poses a question about Santa's actions that may have provoked the pets or whether they are inherently mischievous. Readers are directed to the December newsletter for further explanation of the prompt and are invited to subscribe to the artist's mailing list for more content. Additionally, Klemek promotes his book series about a "horny cat detective," providing affiliate links for purchase.

December Prompt

Santa Attacked By Pets

Yule Tide Weird Part 2

Pet Attack- 2005 Watercolor on paper by Ryan Klemek

God, looking at the perspective of the fish tank and bookshelf makes me cringe. That was never my strong suit but this is just awful. I’m happy with the way Santa and the animals came out, at least.

The gist of what’s happening here is pretty straightforward, but there are additional stories in the background. Like, what’s up with those books? I eventually called my T-shirt company “Donkeyshines,” but this was painted three years before that.

I think it’s the fish that makes the difference in this fight. If only Santa hadn’t wandered so close to the tank.

What do you suppose Santa did to make everyone so mad? Or are the pets just jerks?
